OCDJ is cool. really cool. the music, made by one guy who started out as a DJ on WFMU, a new york-based freeform radio station, kind of sounds like a cross between dan deacon, nullsleep, and girl talk. the sound really varies, but if you listen, you might understand what i’m talking about here. i don’t know what else to say except listen! i’m sharing my discoveries with you! i think you’ll like what i put here.
woopash, from OCDJ’s album, Hooray
oh yeah…he’s from baltimore, so he’s gotta be cool, right?

Portland, Oregon’s music scene is more of a constant explosion than anything else. There is always some great sound emanating from that city. Today, I’m featuring a relatively unknown Portland band, the Red Dons. Formed in 2005 from the remnants of punk band The Observers, their sound is uniquely garage-influenced and melodic. Their latest album, Death to Idealism (2007), is packed full of catchy, energetic songs – great for dancing (or in my case, bouncing around like a lunatic), I’d say. You won’t be able to resist at least a slight toe tap listening to their music. Seriously, test out my theory right now.
